A MAJOR link road in Basildon was closed overnight while police carried out investigations following a serious crash.

The A1235 Cranes Farm Road was closed closed by police close to Festival Leisure Park at 10pm last night (Tuesday, 15 February), and did not reopen until 7am.

A statement issued by police last night said: "Our officers were called at 9.40pm today, Tuesday 15 February, to reports of a collision in Cranes Farm Road.

"The road is closed and is likely to remain shut until early tomorrow morning.

"Witnesses to the collision should please call 101, citing incident 1214 of February 15."
