Police confirm death of young man in Cranes Farm Road crash

POLICE have confirmed the death of a young man following a collision in Basildon last night.

Officers were called at 9.40pm yesterday (Tuesday, 15 February) to reports of an incident in Cranes Farm Road involving a black BMW. It was the only vehicle involved.

East of England ambulance service medics were quickly on the scene but the man, said to be in his 20s, died. His next of kin have been made aware.

The road was closed throughout the night while Police carried out investigation work and reopened at 7.30am today.

A 21-year-old man and two 18-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs. They have since been told they face no further action and are helping police with enquiries.

A statement from the force says: "We need anyone who witnessed the collision but did not speak with officers at the scene to contact us.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who has any dash cam footage.
