Police issue CCTV image after officer is injured

A POLICE officer suffered a broken ankle as he was injured while trying to apprehend a man.

A CCTV image of the man as been issued in conjunction with the following statement by police: "We want to speak to this man in connection with an incident in Wickford where an officer sustained a serious leg injury.

"It was reported an officer had stopped a black BMW 1 series on the forecourt of the BP petrol station in Cranfield Park Road at around 9.30pm on Thursday (10 February).

"The driver of the vehicle drove off from the scene and during the incident one of our officer's sustained a fractured ankle.

"We believe the vehicle has damage to its windscreen and the front nearside passenger window.

"We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us.
