Police given additional powers overnight in Basildon

AN order has been given allowing police additional powers and will be enforced overnight in Basildon this evening (Tuesday, 3 January) following criminal reports including a robbery. 

In order to protect the public, officers have enforced a Section 60 order, increasing powers to stop and search individuals within a specific area. 

The order will be enforced within the area displayed in the map and is in place until 07.45am tomorrow (4 January).

A police statement says: "The public are asked to continue to report any criminality or anti-social behaviour to us. 

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am-9pm.

"Visit www.essex.police.uk/digital101 to find out more about our website reporting services. Alternatively you can call us on 101."
