Man in 90s died after car park collision

POLICE have now confirmed that an elderly man died following a collision in a busy Pitsea car park that serves shops and restaurants.

Officers were called out to the incident at the Pitsea Retail Park shortly after 1.45pm on Sunday, 6 February.

Officers arrived at the scene following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian. It has now been confirmed that the pedestrian, a man in his 90s, died at the scene.

The car park was closed for more than five hours to allow police to investigate, reopening just after 6pm.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses who did not speak to police at the scene to come forward.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "Officers were called to a car park in High Road shortly after 1.45pm on Sunday, February 6 following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
