Gun taken out of circulation

IT was a busy Sunday for community cops which including taking a handgun out of circulation.

At the start of their shift yesterday (Sunday, 29 January) Billericay and Wickford Police Community Support officers seized a 9mm handgun from an unoccupied home subject to a house clearance.

They then attended Waitrose in Billericay to view CCTV from a recent theft. While on patrol shortly after they saw a male and female in the High Street and recognised them from the CCTV. The male and female were then dealt with for the theft.

Patrols then continued and they spotted some teenagers smoking cannabis in Greens Farm Lane, Billericay. All three were detained and then dealt with by Police officers for cannabis possession.

At the conclusion of their duty they assisted with road closures on Golden Jubilee Way in Wickford for a serious road traffic incident.
