Basildon Town 1, Hackney Wick FC 0

Basildon Town got their Thurlow Nunn First Division South campaign back on track with a composed performance against a well organised Hackney Wick side on Saturday, 15 October.

Town started well and had most of the possession without creating too many clear cut opportunities.

Then on 40 minutes they took the lead after a shot from Albert Perry fell to Rhys Willson who duly turned the ball into the net.

One nil at half time and the second half followed a similar pattern with Basildon controlling the pace of the game and creating chances but not adding to their score.

Hackney were unable to penetrate Town's defence and were limited to a couple of long range shots which did not trouble goalie Matt Knight

The game finished one nil with left back Joe Burgess man of the match.

Basildon will look to take advantage of their many games in hand and gain ground on the league leaders when they travel to Wivenhoe on Wednesday (19 October) and then next Saturday, 22 October they go to Buckhust Hill hoping to continue their great run in the FA Vase.
