BASILDON'S Towngate Theatre is to be used as a mass vaccination centre as the rollout of anti-Covid jabs gathers pace.

From Monday people aged 60 to 63 will be invited to book a Covid jab after more than three in four people aged 65 to 70 took up the offer of a vaccination.

To meet demand more centres are being set up and the Towngate, which is already being used a testing centre will be one of them.
