Tories dominate in poll for county council

THE nationwide surge for the Conservatives was mirrored in elections in the Basildon area for seats on Essex County Council.

The Tories continue to dominate the council, and took six of the nine seats available in Basildon. Labour took two and the remaining seat was retained by independent Kerry Smith.
