POLICE have been flooded with offers to take on the care of a puppy found when officers raided a drugs farm.

After being tipped off about its location, Essex Police visited the site in Basildon.

During the operation officers discovered a cannabis cultivation and shortly after, a male trying to hide from officers in the garden.

The man was promptly arrested and dealt with in custody for the relevant offences.

Police also came across a puppy at the address.

An officer said: "He unfortunately does not have an owner so has been given a lovely temporary home for the time being.

"He is being very well looked after and is hoping to have a permanent home soon!"

A picture of the pup was posted on social media and attracted a large number of people who said they would be delighted to give it a new home.
