A BASILDON charity which offers secure and safe respite for people suffering early onset dementia is struggling to cope with travel issues following the theft of its mini bus.

The vehicle, a Peugeot Boxer Minibus, was stolen from 'The Peaceful Place' at Timberlog Lane, Basildon just before 4am Basildon on Sunday, 2 October.

The charity said in a statement: "The theft of this vehicle is having a major impact on our service.

"It is used to transport our members who are diagnosed with early onset dementia, mostly at working age, to and from their homes."

Police have issued an appeal for information, saying: "If you have seen this van or have any info about where it is, please go to essex.police.uk/digital101 to find out how you can let us know. Quote 42/270632/22."
