POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an incident where a man was arrested following reports of girls being harassed and one being sexually assaulted in Basildon.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We received reports of girls being harassed at Basildon Bus Station at around 3.30pm as well as a girl being assaulted on the number 25 bus.

"The man is described as white, balding brown hair, light coloured shorts, and a blue zip-up jumper.

"A man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and is currently in custody.
