THE colours of the England flag will be illuminated across the BASILDON sign this weekend to celebrate the England Football Team reaching the final of Euro 2020.

The sign will be lit red and white until at least Monday, 12 July, the morning after the final against Italy at Wembley Stadium.

Mayor of Basildon Council Councillor David Dadds said: "What a fantastic tournament this Euros has been for the country, bringing such hope and joy in a period where life hasn't exactly been easy.

"I'm delighted that we're lighting up the iconic Basildon sign to mark a real special occasion. And WHEN we win on Sunday, we might keep it lit a while longer to celebrate! Come on England!"
