IT'S here. The Queen's Baton Relay has been an integral part of the Commonwealth Games for more than 60 years since the 1958 Games in Cardiff, and is travelling the length and breadth of England for a total of 29 days.

This morning the baton arrived in Essex via a boat at Tilbury and today it was carried to Basildon and a statement from Basildon counbcil says: "We are honoured to be part of the final journey of the Queen's Baton Relay of 2022, with inspiring residents representing our community as our Baton bearers."

The schedule of activity for the Baton's time in Basildon includes schools being invited across the borough to celebrate at Basildon Sporting Village, with a range of sporting activities held throughout the day to reflect the Games.
