Last week Basildon and Billericay MP John Baron and his family attended an investiture at Windsor Castle in order to receive his CBE from HRH Princess Anne.

The CBE was awarded for Political and Public Service, after 23 years as an MP. John will be standing down at the next General Election.

Mr Baron said: "It is a great honour to be recognised in this way. My wife and daughters joined me for what was a very special occasion.

"Amid a splendid atmosphere, it was wonderful to have a personal and amusing chat with Princess Anne, who was very aware of aspects of my political service.

 "I shall forever remember receiving this honour in such an historic setting, and that it was the result of a great team effort."
