ESSEX Police officers are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a collision in Basildon last month.

A statement says: "We were notified of a collision in Long Riding, Basildon, shortly after 8pm on Saturday 16 December 2023.

"It was reported that a vehicle that turned out of a side road was in collision with a teenage boy who was riding a scrambler bike.

"The driver of the car, believed to be a white Ford Kuga, stopped and spoke to the boy. Then both parties left the scene.

"It was subsequently discovered that the boy had sustained a serious leg injury which required hospital treatment.

"In particular, officers are keen to identify the driver of the car and would ask that they get in contact with us.

"We'd also like anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and who may have captured dash cam footage of the incident to also contact us.

"If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

"Please quote incident 1126 of 16 December when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible.

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website where you can use our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am-9pm.

"Visit https://www.essex.police.uk/digital101to find out more about our website reporting services. Alternatively, you can call us on 101.

"If you would like to make an anonymous report, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on X, formerly Twitter, at @CrimestoppersUK, by visiting their website or by calling 0800 555 111."
