BASILDON Council-owned car parks have been upgraded to enable residents to pay electronically, through the MiPermit system.

Using MiPermit, payment can be made through a mobile app, or by scanning the QR code on one of the council's pay and display machines.

Information about the changes and step-by-step details for how to pay by phone are now displayed on all payment machines in council-owned car parks.

Residents are still able to pay for their parking at any of our payment machines.

Cabinet member for environment and carbon reduction, Cllr Kevin Blake, said: "This improvement to our car park payment system will make the machines more accessible for residents.

"Visitors to the borough's car parks will now have more choice to be able to pay in the way which is most convenient for them."

The council-owned car parks in the borough are located at:

  • Billericay - Lake Meadows
  • Billericay - Radford Crescent
  • Billericay - High Street
  • Wickford - Wickford Main
  • Wickford - Wickford Ladygate Centre
  • Wickford - Wickford Pool

The MiPermit smartphone app is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play.
