Man was hit with baseball bat by passenger in passing car

POLICE are investigating an assault in Basildon where a man was struck with a baseball bat.

It was reported the victim, who is in his 20s, was cycling along Burnt Mills Road at around 5.30pm on 23 January when a car drove past him and he was struck on the head.

He sustained a laceration to the top of his head which required stitches.

His attacker was in the passenger side of the vehicle which has been described as dark in colour.
