Llyam didn't walk alone as he smashes charity target

By Neil Speight 1st Apr 2021

A BASILDON youngster has smashed a fundraising target and walked the equivalent distance from his home in Pitsea to Liverpool Football Club.

On 1 March Basildon Nub News reported on the efforts of 15-year-old Llyam Curtis, as he embarked on a month-long walking challenge to support the Prostate Cancer charity.

Today (1 April) we can report he not only reached his walking goal, but he soared past his original fundraising target of £500.

He has currently made more than £600 for the charity - and the total is still going up.

Proud mum Susanna said: "The target set for the March the Month project by the charity as part of their fundraising month was for participants to do 11,000 steps every day in March.

"Llyam wanted to walk the equivalent of the distance between home and Anfield, where his absolute favourite team Liverpool play - so he did quite a lot more steps than that.

"He went out every day, rain and shine, and he has smashed it by walking more than 415,000 steps. We are all so proud of him."
