DESPITE the restrictions of Covid-19 members of the Briscoe Pitsea WI, who normally meet at Brackendale Hall in Pitsea have been very busy recently.

One of the key focal points for group activity has been supporting the Helping Hands Food Bank based at Lee Chapel North

Member Sue Soar is pictured handing a cheque over to the food bank in December.

The WI also donated food and lots of Christmas presents to be given to children and they made up festive parcels for families and children who were less fortunate than others.

Sue said: "We have supported this food bank for quite a long time and my husband and I go there once a month with food and toiletry donations from our WI together with cash donations. It is our intention to carry on with this."

Briscoe WI has about 58 members at the moment and normally enjoy monthly meetings in Brackendale Hall but with restrictions this has not been possible. However, when restrictions were eased last summer members enjoyed a couple of meetings in the sunshine at Wat Tyler and it is something they hope to be able to do this spring and summer.
