A CHARITY that collects and distributes food and essential items to those in need in the Wickford and wider area is in urgent need of some items.

Wickford Foodbank was set up to offer practical support to local individuals and families who are experiencing financial hardship.

They are currently short of items including tinned meat, fish and fruit and also custard and long life milk.

The charity is are able to accept donations on Tuesday mornings at the Salvation Army church at Jersey Gardens, Wickford, SS11 7AE between 10am and noon. Also on Thursday mornings 9 to 9.30am.

There is also a collection point in the Co-op located by the exit doors.
