Fire on rural site affects buildings and vehicles

CREWS from across the region were called out to tackle an early morning fire at site near Basildon.

The blaze affected two industrial units, four vehicles, a container and a caravan on a site at Oak Lane, Crays Hill, today (Monday 29 August) just after 4am.

Firefighters from Basildon, Wickford, Rayleigh and Brentwood were called to the scene where they found an industrial unit completely alight and the fire had spread to surrounding structures.

Crews worked hard to extinguish the fire by 5.34am.

An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause.
