POLICE have issued an appeal for witnesses, dash cam footage and any other relevant information following Saturday's significant incident on the A13 Pitsea flyover junction, which it has now been confirmed, included a fatality.

Officers were called to the scene shortly before 2:30pm where a passenger of the car, a 18-year-old woman had died. Her family are aware and will continue to receive support from specialist officers.

The other four occupants of the car remain in hospital, two of them are in a critical condition.

Police assisted colleagues in from Essex Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service and the road underneath the flyover had to be temporarily closed due to dangers around debris falling.

The A13 was closed for a number of hours but reopened around 11pm last night.

Detective Sergeant Sam Nason from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit said "This was a tragic collision, and our thoughts are with those involved.

"We are continuing multiple enquiries this morning including speaking with witnesses and reviewing CCTV and dashcam.

"We believe there were a number of witnesses, many of whom helped those involved. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or have any CCTV or dashcam to get in contact."
