BASILDON Council is asking residents to comment on how the council wards in the borough might be reshaped.

The Electoral Commission has also announced that it is minded to recommend that the council should have 42 councillors in the future.

The council is currently considering a new pattern of wards to accommodate 42 councillors but wants to have input from residents about where the new boundaries should be drawn.

A statement from the council says: "The Commission has not yet proposed any new wards. We want to hear from you on what you think of the current wards and where you think new ones should be."

An online page explaining the current situation and information about what is planned can be accessed via this link. You can also make your contribution of ideas online.

This stage of the consultation closes on 18 July 2022.
