Call for witnesses following robbery at knifepoint

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Basildon this morning (Saturday, 27 July).

Officers were called to Cherrydown East, outside Trafford House shortly before 4am following reports of a robbery. The victim was approached by two men who threatened him with a knife before demanding his phone, card and money.

The suspects are described as black men wearing all dark clothing.

A police statement says: "We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything between 3.30am and 4am in the area this morning to contact us.
