Boy aged 13 was attacked and robbed by gang

POLICE in Basildon are appealing for anyone who saw or has footage of a robbery in in the town in which a 13 year-old boy was the victim of a gang.

It was reported the boy was walking towards the underpass at the end of Luncies Road at around 4.45pm on Monday, 27 December when he was approached by a group of six people.

The group are all described as teenage boys and four of them were wearing face masks and dark clothing.

The victim was assaulted and had his mobile phone stolen before the group ran off through the underpass.

Police have descriptions of four members of the group.

One is described as white, 13 or 14 years-old, around 5ft 5ins tall, of large build, with green eyes and wearing a black tracksuit, black beanie-style hat, black face covering, blue puffy jacket, and black gloves.

The second is describe as white, aged between 13 and 15 years-old, and also around 5ft 5ins tall, and of large build. He's described as wearing a black tracksuit, black gloves, and a black face covering which was possibly a t-shirt. He also had a small bag over his shoulder, described being light and dark brown in colour in a chessboard pattern.

The other two are both described as white and aged between 13 and 15. One is described as being of large build and the other as slim. They were both also wearing black tracksuits, black gloves, and black face coverings.

A police statement says: "We need anyone who saw anything, or has any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to contact us. If you have any information you can submit a report online via this link where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm.

"Please quote the crime reference number 42/300424/21.
