Basildon to mark D-Day with beacon lighting

D-Day will be commemorated across Basildon as a number of events remembering those who served during the 1944 invasion of Normandy.

On Thursday 6 June, beacons will be lit across the borough to mark the historic event.

Beacon lightings will take place at:

  • Gloucester Park, Basildon - 8.45pm
  • The Paddocks, Laindon - 8.45pm
  • Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea - 8.45pm
  • Queen Elizabeth II Field, Billericay - 9pm
  • Wickford Memorial Park - parade at 8.45pm, followed by the lighting of the beacon at 9:15pm
