BASILDON Council remains in the hands of the Conservative administration after they enjoyed a series of good results at the polls.

Yesterday's (Thursday, 5 May) elections in 14 wards in the borough saw the Tories win ten. Labour were victorious in two and independents were elected in two others.

It was a poor night for Labour, whose leader Jack Ferguson lost his seat in Pitsea to the Conservatives.
