BASILDON'S bin crews returned to borough streets today (Friday, 12 February) and the district council says it will be working with local communities to make up the backlog of waste collections.

A statement from the council this morning said: "Waste and recycling collections scheduled for today will take place as planned.

"Please be patient as collections will be slower than usual due to the weather conditions. There are some roads to icy this morning, and these areas will be returned to later in the day.

"An update on the catch up plan for suspended collections so far this week will be announced later today."
