TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and drug offences after officers in Basildon stopped a car early this morning (Sunday, 26 November).

The officers were on patrol in Chester Hall Lane shortly after 4.30am when they the saw a car with two men inside it parked in front of a lorry.

Further police checks on the vehicle led officers to become increasingly suspicious of it.

Both men were quickly arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

Both men's phones were also seized, and speedy enquiries led to both also being arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug.

They remain in custody for questioning and both the car and the lorry have been forensically recovered.
