POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after arresting two people on suspicion of GBH after an incident in Basildon.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called at about 3.20am on Saturday 16 September to reports of an assault at Unit 7 in Festival Leisure Park.

"Officers arrived at the scene within five minutes of being called and quickly arrested one man on suspicion of GBH and possession of an offensive weapon. A second man was also arrested on suspicion of GBH and possession of an offensive weapon.

"Two people were taken to hospital with injuries.

"Now, officers want to hear from anyone else at the scene who may be able to help with their enquiries."

Detective Constable William Belsham, of Basildon CID, said: "Everyone in Essex is entitled to enjoy the night-time economy in the county without being affected by incidents like this.

"Our officers responded quickly and effectively, making both arrests within 30 minutes of attending the scene.

"I'd now encourage anyone who can assist us with our enquiries to speak to us.

"Members of the public with any information should contact us, quoting incident 205 of Saturday 16 September.
