Air ambulance deployed and took patient to hospital after crash

TRAFFIC was seriously disrupted in the Wickford area this afternoon (Wednesday, 21 September) following a crash on the A132.

The alert was raised after the crash which involved a car and a motor vehicle around 2pm and among emergency services that rushed to the scene, the Essex Air Ambulance was deployed.

A person was airlifted to hospital after first being treated at the scene.

The crash occurred on the A132 Burnham Road at Main Road (Rettendon Turnpike).

The road remained partially blocked for three hours following the incident and was reopened shortly before 5pm.
