AN event will take place later this year to celebrating exceptional care and support given at a clinic at Basildon's Essex Cardiothoracic Centre to patients with inherited cardiac conditions (ICC) and Arrhythmia.

The West Horndon-based charity SADS UK will be organising and funding the event, celebrating the clinic's first anniversary, for patients and their families. It will take place on Saturday, 7 September from 9.30am to 4pm at the County Hotel, 29 Rainsford Road, Chelmsford.

Dr Jason Dungu will be speaking at the event about the progress the clinic has made and the new drug, Mavacamten, which was recently featured in a Thurrock Nub News story. Matthew Hopkins, CEO of the Cardiothoracic Centre will also be there. 

SADS UK raises funds for vital research into understanding cardiac arrhythmia and genetic conditions that can cause SADS, sudden cardiac death. 

It also helps families affected by cardiac conditions to enable better treatment and management in the future.

The charity also provides support and counselling for families impacted by SADS, provides CPR and defibrillator training in the community and provide Community Public Access Defibrillators and Bleed Kits throughout the UK.

A statement from SADS UK says it is "delighted to support and fund this special event to celebrate the ICC Clinic's anniversary and to support the work of the Arrhythmia Clinic".
