70 year old man stabbed in Basildon

A 70-year-old man was struck and stabbed in the back as he walked through a Basildon underpass.

Police were called just before 7.30pm yesterday (Monday, 1 February) following a report of an assault.

A man in his 70s was struck on the back as he walked through the underpass at Roundacre. He was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab wound. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or changing.

The suspect is described as a white man, 6ft, broad build and aged in his 30s. He was wearing a black bomber jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the assault, or who can identify the man described, is asked to contact Basildon CID on 101 quoting crime reference 42/19034/21.
