Council leader in the Gateway 97.8 hot seat

THE new leader of Basildon Council gave a detailed and frank response to a number of topical questions when he was interviewed on community radio station Gateway 97.8 today (Tuesday, 8 June).

Cllr Andrew Baggott, who has overcome a stroke to lead Basildon Conservatives back to power following the recent local elections, spoke about his health issues and how his party have a plan to put Basildon back on track.

He was scathing about the legacy left to his administration buy the outgoing coalition of Labour and independent members.

Gateway editor Johnny Jenkins quizzed Cllr Baggott on a number of issues including the town centre high rise development plans, sale of land at Wickford and the continuing controversy over the Laindon Community Centre.
