Assistant / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor that specialises within the highways and surfacing industry working on JCT and NEC contracts. The client specialise in surfacing, highways maintenance and alterations. The Quantity Surveyor will be working on multiple projects within Essex and Home Counties.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably within the highways or civils industry. Further to this, it is essential the candidate holds a CSCS card and has JCT and NEC experience. The role itself is based in the Basildon area, however there will be travel to site incorporated with the role.

Quantity Surveyor Position Overview

  • Ensuring effective cost planning and commercial management during the entire life cycle of each project
  • Managing costs for project on the for the companies Framework and highways department
  • Working as a Subcontractor on projects
  • Measuring works produced by contracting operations and subcontractors
  • Producing timely cost/value reports that monitor the financial progress of contracts or elements thereof and cost / values of contracts giving overall business performance
  • Manage and comply with all Health and Safety requirements
  • Weekly Site Meetings
  • Liaising with Clients, discussing changes and disputes
  • Working closely with Operations Team; Programme Alterations, Drawing Acknowledgements / Understanding

Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements

  • HNC / BSc in Quantity Surveying or construction related discipline
  • Good Knowledge of Highways
  • JCT and NEC contract experience
  • Experience of working on frameworks and as a subcontractor
  • Experience of producing reports on a monthly basis
  • 3 years' experience within the construction or highways industry
  • Full UK driving licence
