Barkingside 2, Basildon Town 3
TOWN won through to the next round of the Thameside Trophy after twice coming from behind.
An early injury to Bradbourn didn't help Town, who had made six changes from Saturday's line up.
Neither side could stamp their authority and both struggled to keep possession.
It was Barkingside who broke the deadlock on 18 minutes after a goalmouth scramble saw James-Akerele hit the back of the net.
Some good pressure from Town led to a corner on the half hour mark and the impressive James O'Brien headed home from close range.
The second half started all square in much the same way as the first and it was Barkingside who regained the lead with another goal from James-Akerele on 48 minutes.
A couple of substitutions on 55 minutes seemed to spur Town on and after some good work out wide, sub Rhys Willson provided a perfect cross for Grant Cumming to head home the equaliser on 78 minutes.
Town then pushed for the winner, Mike Onafuye replacing Cumming.
This paid off and a good run into the box on 88 minutes saw sub Brad Rowland upended and Graham Harrison calmly slotted home from the spot and Basildon saw the game out to set up a derby with Basildon United in the next round.
