THURROCK'S TipToe Stage School pulled out all the stops for its 40th anniversary show, aptly titled "Legacies".

The event, held at the Towngate Theatre in Basildon at the weekend, brought together more than 80 performers in a spectacular display of skill and teamwork, leaving audiences thoroughly captivated.

The school, celebrating four decades since its opening in 1986, delivered an unforgettable evening, with the performers wowing the crowd and earning high praise from all quarters.

Our reviewer remarked: "This was something else. I've seen TipToe perform before but this was another level. The talent displayed on that stage was breathtaking." The sentiment was echoed by a parent at the stage door, who said, "I haven't stopped crying at just how committed and hard working those performers are. Young people often get a bad rep, but their display of unity and togetherness was nothing short of inspiring."

Principal Julie Carter reflected on the milestone, saying: "In some ways 40 years have just flown by since we opened in 1986 and being in the company of these young people over the weekend has made my heart full.

"And combined with the amazing help from chaperones, dressers, security, front of house and our lovely parents, my team and I feel very blessed. And all of this would not have been possible without the team that makes TipToe – Els, Sam, Lauren, Quincey, and our team of teachers. Thank you."

The night featured a special surprise from Thurrock's Mayor, Cllr Sue Shinnick, who attended and announced on stage: "I'm blown away by what I've seen today and hats off to every one of you. I'd like you to know that I'm inducting TipToe Stage School into the borough's Mayoral Roll of Honour for all your hard work in the community over the past 40 years."

The recognition underscored the school's longstanding contribution to the local area and its commitment to nurturing young talent.

Even as the curtain fell on "Legacies", the TipToe team wasted no time, launching straight into rehearsals for their upcoming summer appearances, which will include performances at London's O2, His Majesty's Theatre and a range of local events.
