Time to get 'plonkers' off the grass verges

RESIDENTS in the Lanhams area of Pitsea have called on Basildon Council to do something to stop bad parking and protect the area's grass verges.

The issue has been highlighted by local residents after a community-minded local person took the time and trouble to repair some of the verges that have been damaged, only to see inconsiderate drivers churn up his work.

He was particularly aggrieved over the weekend when he prepared a patch of verge for seeding, which he was going to purchase, but when he returned it was a complete mess again, prompting the social media comment: "I spent time digging and levelling this and was going to buy grass seed once I'd got it ready but some plonker has already started to drive on it.

"What chance have we got? It needs posts put in."

Other residents have supported his call and have asked the council to investigate ways of keeping cars off the area's verges.

Local ward councillors have been asked for their views on the idea.
