THREE teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of a burglary in Basildon.

Essex Police received reports of a vehicle being stolen from a property in Curling Tye in the early hours of Sunday, 14 January.

Following an investigation, a vehicle displaying a false licence plate was identified and stopped in Romford yesterday (Wednesday, 17 January). Two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Inspector Steve Parry said: "Our officers are working tirelessly to investigate burglaries in our district. We know the impact this kind of invasive crime can have on victims, so we make it a priority to make sure those responsible are brought to justice.

"There are also several simple steps to prevent burglaries we can all take, such as double-locking doors and windows or ensuring valuable items are not on display.

"We know there are several other victims and potential witnesses of burglary in our district. We want to hear from any witnesses or anyone with footage that will support our enquiries as soon as possible.

"We believe burglary suspects may have been seen on doorbell or dashcam footage across Basildon on the evening of Saturday, 13 January and the morning of Sunday, 14 January."

Officers are asking anyone with any footage that will assist them to contact them quoting crime reference number 42/7299/24.

A statement says: "You can let us know by submitting a report on our website where you can use our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am-9pm.

"Visit https://www.essex.police.uk/digital101to find out more about our website reporting services. Alternatively, you can call us on 101.

"If you would like to make an anonymous report, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on X, formerly Twitter, at @CrimestoppersUK, by visiting their website or by calling 0800 555 111.
