DISCOUNT retailer QD has donated £4,724.61 to St Luke's Hospice in Nethermayne, Basildon.

The store, located on Great Oaks, raised the funds through sales of its plastic carrier bags and donations made via counter-top collection tins.

The QD team at Basildon collectively chose to support St Luke's Hospice and were delighted to see these funds go to this very worthy local cause.

Kristian Timbrell, manager at QD Basildon, said: "We all know that times are tough for charities as everyone feels the pinch of the cost of living crisis.

"The sales from our carrier bags and kind donations from customers have enabled us to raise much-needed funds for fantastic local causes.

"We felt St Luke's deserves a donation - their work is incredible and as store, we really wanted to help them in some way."

Jackie Ross, corporate fundraising manager for St Luke's Hospice, said: "We are delighted to receive this fantastic donation from QD in Basildon.

"This wonderful donation of £4,724.61 will help to continue our services providing specialist palliative and end of life care.

"As a registered charity we are reliant on the generosity of our community to ensure the continued provision of specialist palliative and end of life care, where and when it is needed the most."
