POLICE are appealing for information after four motorcyclists entered private land and caused £3,000 worth of damage to crops and have released pictures of the riders.

The riders, who were on motocross bikes, were spotted in Meepshole Wood, in Ramsden Heath, shortly before 2.15pm on Sunday, 7 February.

When they were challenged by the landowners - a woman aged in her 60s and a woman aged in her 30s - an argument ensued during which the victims reported being assaulted by the riders.

The group then fled the scene. Neither victim sustained serious injuries and did not require medical treatment.

No arrests have been made and police enquiries are ongoing.

Investigating officer PC Rosie Finnis said: "This incident was a senseless attack on two women protecting their livelihood. This sort of activity has huge implications for those in the agriculture industry and costs them thousands of pounds in earnings.

"I would appeal for any information to help identify the people pictured."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information on it is asked to report it online via this link where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm. You can also call police on 101 and cite 42/21997/21.

Information can also be given to independent charity Crimestoppers online anonymously or by calling 0800 555 111.
