POLIE officers investigating a burglary in Basildon are releasing an image of a man who they would like to speak with.

Officers were called to an address in Markhams Chase in Basildon at around 1pm on 2 May following reports of a residential burglary.

The victim returned home to find the back patio door had been smashed. The suspect had stolen money and gold jewellery.

The day before the burglary, a man knocked at the door offering to clean the guttering of the property.

The victims accepted this service, however when they returned, their gutters hadn't been cleaned. Investigating officers believe that this is connected to the burglary.

Investigating officers are now releasing an image of a man who they would like to speak with in connection with this investigation.
