PILOICE are asking residents in Wickford and Basildon if they know the identity of a man suspected of theft.

They would like to speak to him in connection with the theft of a purse that took place inside the Co-op, 44 High Street, Wickford.

On Monday, 15 March, police received a report that a woman had her purse stolen from her bag after being distracted at around 10:30am. Her cards were then used several times in the local area to withdraw cash and pay for other goods in other stores.

If anyone knows who the man is or has any information, they are asked to call police on 101 quoting crime reference 42/45577/21.

You can also submit a report online here where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
