DETECTIVES investigating four incidents in Basildon they are treating as linked where women have been approached by a man have released a new image of someone they want to speak to.

If you recognise the man police say they urgently need you to contact them.

Officers are investigating two incidents which took place on 5 February and two which were reported on Monday (15 February).

On 5 February:

  • A woman reported being followed by a man in the Broadhurst Place at around 2pm;
  • At around 5.40pm in the Wickhay area, a woman reported a man had approached her from behind and grabbed her.

On 15 February:

  • A woman in her 20s was assaulted by a man in Pamplins at around 2.30pm;
  • Shortly before 3pm, another woman reported being approached from behind by a man in Nether Priors and sexually assaulted.

The description of the man involved in each incident is the same.

Detectives issued an image of a man they want to speak to on 6 February (pictured left) following the first two incidents.

They have now added a new image (pictured right) of a man they want to speak to following the two incidents yesterday and they believe it is the same person.

Extra patrols are taking place following the latest two incidents.

If you have any information you are asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 619 or 660 of 15 February or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
