A dispute between neighbours in Tanswell Avenue escalated and ended up in court.

A 75-year-old Basildon woman found herself in court after a clash with a neighbour ended with her hurling abuse - and rubbish - onto an adjacent property.

Victoria Devonport of Tanswell Avenue, denied three charges of harassment, using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour and breaching a previous community protection notice.

However, when she appeared before Basildon magistrates she was found guilty of two offences - the other being withdrawn.

The court heard that in three incidents last year she threw rubbish and other items on a neighbour's property and used foul and abusive language towards her and another man.

She was fined £50 and ordered to pay compensation totalling £250 and a victim surcharge and costs totalling £84.
