South Basildon & East Thurrock MP Stephen Metcalfe recently visited Woodlands School in Basildon to meet headteacher, David Wright, and congratulate staff and teachers on their recent "Good" Ofsted report.

Mr Metcalfe congratulated the staff for the work they are doing to improve the school and ensure that pupils receive the best education and reach their full potential.

He said: "It's great to see Woodlands continuing to improve under Headteacher David Wright and his hardworking colleagues. I know they care deeply about creating an inquisitive school where pupils ask questions and think outside the box.

"It was fantastic to read in the Ofsted report that pupils actively enjoy coming to Woodlands and they learn a broad and well-sequenced curriculum. It's also great to hear about the strong focus on personal development and use of effective questioning to ensure pupils have a full understanding.

"I support Woodlands all the way as they work to unlock opportunities for kids in Basildon.

"Education is the most powerful tool throughout adult life – it has the power to literally transform your future trajectory. I will always be a big champion of our teachers who are so important to so many children."
