MP calls on Basildon residents to take part in recycling consultation exercise

BASILDON MP John Baron has encouraged local residents to respond to a consultation on the future of recycling centre bookings.

The consultation opened on Monday, 9 October and will run for six weeks until Sunday, 19 November.

The consultation will be looking into maintaining a booking process at all Essex recycling centres on a permanent basis.

This follows on from a trial process which saw a booking process introduced specifically for vans, pick-ups and large trailers at the nine van-friendly sites in February 2022 which was then expanded to encompass all vehicles visiting Rayleigh Recycling Centre in June 2022. In January 2023, the booking process to all vehicles visiting all sites. 

Mr Baron said: "This consultation will shape the way that customers are able to access recycling services in the local area.

"It is important for residents to engage with the consultation process to ensure that their views are heard."
