Modellers enact one of WWII's epic battles to mark anniversary

Basildon Borough Twinning Association members took part in an event to mark the 80th anniversary of the battle of El Alamein in north Africa.

War games modellers from Basildon and their twin town of Heiligenhaus spent the weekend re-enacting the famous battle from World War Two in 1982 which was a turning point in the conflict.

Two battle scenes were produced with models representing Axis forces from Germany and Italy battling with models representing Britain, the Commonwealth and the free French.

Visitors were intrigued to see the scenarios unfold over the two days
