Man arrested and murder probe launched following death of woman in her sixties in Vange

ENQUIRIES are underway following the death of a woman in Basildon which police are treating as murder.

Police were called to concerns for the welfare of the woman in her sixties in Dewsgreen, Vange shortly after 6.40am.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to concerns for the welfare of a woman in Dewsgreen, shortly after 6.40am, Thursday 4 November.

"We arrived and sadly found a woman, aged in her 60s, had died.

"An investigation into her death has been launched and a 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"He is currently in custody."

Police are appealing for information. Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the Dewsgreen or Vange Hill Drive area overnight is asked tobcall 101 and cite incident 121 of November 4.
